I still remember my first shower, taking that step from bath to shower was an empowering one for me. It was one of the first times I felt as if I was a young woman, at a mere 8 years, instead of the kid playing with toys in the bath. What was most special were the new products I got to use, to replace my bubble bath, and my mom showing me a whole new world of options.
Ever since my induction to the world of showers I have been on a lifelong hunt to find find the best products for my sensitive, and sometimes challenging skin. I have spent hours in drug store aisles gently squeezing body washes to smell each very carefully, because let’s face it, scent matters. I have always had extremely sensitive skin that would break out when I used the wrong item; however, I also had dry areas, which needed extra attention, but using anything too heavy would never leave me feeling clean and fresh, the very point of showers.
I was so excited when I heard about the latest addition to the Dove Go Fresh family, and the Dry Oil Range, I knew I had to try them out. After the first shower of using the Dove Go Fresh Revitalize, I already noticed my skin feeling softer. With the scent of mandarin & tiare flower, and moisturizing cream as well as skin natural lipids, I have noticed my dry patches have been moisturized, but I still feel fresh and clean after my shower, and not any heavy residue, like from other too-rich ingredients. Next I tried the Dove Dry Oil Moisture Body Wash, to give a little more attention to those dry spots. My first observation was that although it has Moroccan Argan oil in it, it was surprisingly non-greasy. My skin was noticeably softer than before, and also was almost glowing. I am really excited to use this one throughout the fall and winter when my skin needs that extra oomph!
Ever since I was young, in fact long before my first shower, I remember a Dove Beauty Bar being part of my bath time routine. Dove is a brand that my mom trusted, and now has a special place in my heart. This was cemented even more in 2004, when Dove launched their campaign for Real Beauty. The movement has been responsible for changing people’s definition of what real beauty is, but more importantly has been attributed with changing the narrative for young girls in how they see their own beauty, and to challenge the pressures society. This message had hit home for me, and goes hand-in-hand with the body positivity movement.
I truly believe that if this message was out there for me to hear when I was that young girl taking her first steps into womanhood, my life would have been transformed. I am so excited to find a body wash (and a brand) that makes be feel beautiful inside and out.
