5 Things…

This week I have been lost in a sea of September Issues, so as I come up for air, I find it hard to pick only “5 Things” this week! Putting everything I have digested in the past week aside, these are the first 5 things that came to mind. A Satchel, Tears, Lazer-Cut, Color-Blocked, Pockets: the things dreams are made of. Take a look at my 5 favorite things this week!
5 Things... Aug 27, 2014

It’s called The A Satchel. A! My initial… obviously it’s calling out to me. And this is my color!

2. {CAIPORA JEWELLERY Wave Rubber Necklace}
Laser cut everything! — Is what I always say! It is my favorite detail!

3. {BLACK FIVE Asymmetric Facial-print Zipped Pullover Tank}
I love this tank, down to the cross-hatch details of the eyebrow!

4. {10 Crosby Derek Lam Pilar Suede Colorblock Pump}
This color-blocked pump is perfection! The jewel-tones paired with the toe and heel shape create a fantastic statement shoe.

5. {ORLA KIELY Crepe Coating Coat}
I feel as if this coat is out of a fabulous English per
iod piece, I would love to parade around town spouting off lines of Jane Austen’s in my poor excuse for a British Accent.

What’s on your list this week?

10 on Trend: Unique Prints

We have most definitely moved on past polkadots and stripes. We now live in a world full of vibrant, colorful and exciting prints. Thanks to the technology of CGI, there is literally nothing left untouched from our imaginations in this trend. The art of print can create lines and shapes, just as the construction of the piece itself. There are so many designers that have been taking prints to another level, such as Mary Katrantzou, Peter Pilotto, and of course Emilio Pucci

The Altuzarra for Target Lookbook is Here!

Collaborations are a fantastic way that brands keep themselves fresh, as well as making designs accessible to a brand new market. This collection is especially exciting as the luxury designer Joseph Altuzarra was the recipient of the CFDA Award for best womenswear designer earlier this year.

Known for feminine, modern, yet extremely sexy designs, this cultivated voice has translated beautifully into a perfect collection for Target. The price point for the pieces of this collaboration are between $ 18-90, which is extremely affordable for the beauty that each piece entails.

Staying true to his seductive aesthetic this collection is a perfect collection of 9-to-5 meets boudoir! Featured in this collection is everything from slinky silks to velvet pantsuits, with a dash of snake print, mixed with strong trench coats.

Decidedly inspired by a 70s vibe, there are many pieces that work perfectly as an entire outfit, and also ones that will integrate beautifully into your wardrobe.

Take a look through the gallery below, and make notes of your favourite pieces. This collection is most likely to fly off the shelves in store and online on September 14th, so get your shopping game plans together now!

What to Pack For A Roadtrip

So it feels like the moment August 1st comes around, everyone is panicking that summer is over! Well fret not, there a still a good handful of roadtrip-able weekends left for us to enjoy! I don’t know about you, but I love the thrill and joy of life on the road! I have driven across the continent countless times, a few times by myself! I love meeting new people, reading maps, trying new food, and seeing bizarre roadside attractions. I have seen the biggest ketchup bottle, largest ball of twine, biggest buffalo, and many more.

So let’s just say I am a road trip expert. So I have compiled a list of road trip must haves!

What to Pack for a Summer Roadtrip Vertical

    Check out this KATE SPADE NEW YORK ‘Charles Street Fabric – Cayli’ crossbody bag

  2. Printed Shorts
    A great pair of printed shorts are a great way to add a dynamic look to your travel outfit. Opt for a lightweight fabric that will keep you cool, but still look fresh.

  6. Comfy Slides
    I don’t know about you, but kicking off your shoes and letting them hang out the window is common road trip practice for me. The ability to slide in and out of your shoes is vital, but on the other hand the comfort is so important for the excursions on pitstops along the way.
    Try these BIRKENSTOCK Stripe-Print Arizona Sandals

Girl on a Budget

It is possible to look stylish without having to break the bank! The first step is knowing how to pick the right pieces to create a look that is inexpensive, yet doesn’t look cheap. Check out this week’s picks from the best sales, deals and discount shopping!

Girl on a Budget Tip #2:

Fit is Everything

Whether you buy the most expensive designer piece, or a piece on sale at a inexpensive store, the fit of your clothes will make your look. Here are sine helpful alternations that are not too expensive:

  • Shortening pant hems. They should stop just shy of touching the floor. This would require different hem lengths for each heel height.
  • Lower the hem. If the hem is too short, it can make a great skirt or pair of pants look cheap.
  • Narrowing a bodice. There should not be excess fabric under the arms, or at the bust.
  • Taking in excess at waist. You should be able to slide only two fingers inside the band. Also any tops or jackets that have excess at waist should be taken in.
  • Taking up long shirt cuffs. Full-length sleeves should hit your wristbones.

Alterations to skip which will cost too much to defeat all the money you saved on the garment:

  • Ill fitting crotch.
  • Shoulders that are too big
  • Alterations which effect zippers or pleats

#TBT: Victoria Beckham Style Evolution

This week it was announced that Victoria Beckham was donating more than 600 pieces from her own closet, and will be selling the on TheOutnet.com to raise money for mothers2mothers. Following her trip in February to South Africa began raising awareness for this cause. Mothers2mothers is an organization that trains and employs mothers living with HIV, as well as educate them on how to prevent the transmission of HIV from mothers to babies and to improve the health of women and their families.

Beckham along with the help of her sister and mom, chose shoes, jewelry, hats, ready-to-wear pieces from award shows and her Spice Girls days. These pieces will be included in the sale August 20-25. Also 10 iconic pieces have been selected for a reverse auction, where prices are reduced every five minutes.

So in anticipation let’s take a look through her most memorable looks, and perhaps we can guess which pieces will be included.

5 Things…

There are only so many beach days left this season. But coming up next is fall, the perfect time for new beginnings and school supply shopping {I have been told that us ‘adults’ don’t call it that anymore…}. This week’s ’5 Things…’ is the start of the transition into fall. See what made the list this week!

5 Things... August 6th

1. {KENDRA SCOTT Skylar Earrings, Black Iridescent}
As you probably know by now, I am obsessed with statement jewelry. So these earrings would fit perfectly in my collection.
Get these earrings at Neiman Marcus.

2. {ROKSANDA ILLINCIC Purple & Orange Knit Wool Clutch}
This bag reminds me of those neon nylon loops we used to weave things out of in the late 80s/ early 90s.
Get this bag from Ssense.

3. {MSGM textured frill skirt}
I love all things asymmetrical. I love leather skirts. And I also happen to love texture! This skirt is perfection!
Get this skirt at Farfetch.

4. {BURBERRY Color Block Check Blanket Poncho}
These Burberry blanket ponchos have been popping up everywhere. When I see them, all I want to do is be in a log cabin somewhere, maybe standing with an axe… {not using it though, just posing}
Get this poncho at Burberry.

5. {CIATÉ LashLights Sephora Exclusive Limited Edition}
Last week I found out that my favorite mascara Benefit’s BadGal in Plum has been discontinued. After I recovered {and stocked up} I thought I may give this purple mascara a try. However this is still only a temporary fix, as it too will not be on the shelves for long.
Get this mascara at Sephora.
